How this calculator works
We apply Etsy's published US fee schedule. Every component below was re-checked against Etsy's own Fees & Payments Policy and Etsy Payments Policy on 1 September 2026 and is unchanged since June 2026:

Etsy also charges a one-time shop set-up fee to some new sellers. The amount is shown during onboarding rather than published in the policy, it is non-refundable, and it may be waived. Because it is one-time rather than per-order, it is not part of the per-sale math above.
What Etsy's fees add up to
People often quote "about 11%" as Etsy's cut. That is not a figure Etsy publishes. It is arithmetic on the three per-order components above, and it only holds for a sale with no offsite-ad fee. Work it through on a $25 item with $5 shipping: the $0.20 listing fee, plus 6.5% of $30 which is $1.95, plus 3% of $30 plus $0.25 which is $1.15. That totals $3.30 on a $30 order, or 11.0%. Change the order size, add a second listing, or take an offsite-ad sale and the percentage moves, which is the reason this calculator exists. Whenever you see the 11% figure quoted, including from us, it should come with the components named.

Fee rates are centralized and dated so they stay current. Components last verified at Etsy's own published policies on 1 September 2026; the rates have not changed since June 2026, so the calculator's own rate stamp still reads 2026-06. POD base costs are typical market figures, not your exact supplier cost. This tool estimates fees and profit; it is not financial or tax advice.
